Tedo, a twelve-year-old boy, and his young mother, Keto, live in a modest shelter near Tbilisi. Both have been displaced from Abkhazia due to a civil war that has taken everything from them, including the hope of future happiness within an intact family. Tedo was only four years old when they fled Abkhazia, leaving behind the head of the family, who suffered from a heart condition that prevented him from enduring the arduous journey. Although several years have passed, the young boy is unable to adapt to his new surroundings and blames himself for not being able to contribute financially. Fed up with his mother's way of life, he decides to return home after making a deeply disturbing discovery. However, upon returning home, he finds that the circumstances are no better than those he left behind.
