Misako works with an unusual passion: she writes audio descriptions for films, giving shape with words to images that visually impaired people cannot see. During a screening, she meets Masaya, an older photographer facing a painful and inevitable process: the gradual loss of his sight. What begins as a casual encounter slowly transforms into a deep connection. Upon discovering Masaya's photographs, Misako is drawn into a universe of emotions and memories she thought she had forgotten. Through these images, they both embark on an intimate journey of discovery and transformation, learning that seeing goes far beyond mere looking. Together, they will find a new way to perceive the world's beauty, illuminating what had previously remained invisible to their eyes.

Born and raised in Nara Prefecture, Naomi Kawase graduated in Visual Arts from Osaka in 1989, embarking on a cinematic career deeply marked by memory, intimacy, and the observation of human connections. Her early documentary works, Embracing and Katatsumori, garnered international recognition and awards at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in 1995, establishing a singular authorial voice within contemporary Japanese cinema from a very early stage. In 1997, she made her fiction feature debut with Suzaku, a work that made her the youngest filmmaker to receive the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Since then, her relationship with the French festival has been constant and distinguished: in 2007, she won the Grand Prix du Jury for The Mourning Forest, and she received the Carrosse d’Or in Cannes. The poetic and humanist sensibility of her filmography has also earned her significant institutional accolades.
