In Tehran, sisters Mahya and Zahra grow up as carefree girls: they swing on park bars, play with dolls, and indulge in small everyday mischief. However, little by little, societal restrictions begin to seep into their lives through their traditional family environment. With the onset of puberty, the headscarf emerges from the back of the closet, their grandmother shares religious stories, and suddenly, many things that were once fun are deemed inappropriate or even sinful. Their uncle, filmmaker Massoud Bakhshi, accompanies them with his camera for eighteen years, from their childhood in 2007 to the present day. In this narrative device, the director himself shares the captured images with the now adult sisters, inviting them to confront their past and reflect on their journey.

Massoud Bakhshi (Tehran, 1972) is part of the new generation of Iranian filmmakers who have revitalized the country's audiovisual landscape in recent decades. His background is notably international: he studied film directing in Italy and cultural management in France, two experiences that have left their mark on his artistic vision. Before establishing himself as a director, between 1990 and 1998, he was actively involved in various areas of cinema, working as a critic, screenwriter, and producer. This journey allowed him to gain a comprehensive understanding of the medium, which would later be reflected in the thematic and formal richness of his own works. Bakhshi has received numerous international awards for his documentaries and short films.
