"Becoming," by Zhannat Alshanova, is being screened as part of Llaves del Sur. In contemporary Kazakhstan, seventeen-year-old Mila can no longer bear the chaos of her family life until she discovers an open-water swimming team led by the enigmatic Vlad. The sport becomes a fragile refuge that Mila will have to learn to protect.
