Still the Water

Naomi Kawase's retrospective opens today with "Still the Water," featuring an in-person introduction. On the Japanese island of Amami, where its inhabitants believe a god dwells in every tree, every stone, and every plant, young Kaito discovers the body of a man floating in the sea. Alongside his friend Kyoko, they will embark on a journey of discovery that will, for the first time, expose them to the complexities of the adult world.
