This directory compiles the glossaries from all editions of Cines del Sur: eleven already held and the twelfth currently underway. It serves as a living memory of the festival, its films, guests, sections, and spaces for reflection on the cinemas of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Arab world. Here you can trace the evolution of its programming, rediscover filmmakers, and follow the thematic threads that have defined Cines del Sur's identity as a meeting point for cultures, perspectives, and ways of understanding cinema from the Global South.

The discovery of a terrible murder in a painter's apartment, coinciding with the day of Taiwan's presidential elections, sets the stage for The Last Painting. We go back four months to witness the arrival of a politically committed and idealistic student as a new tenant in the apartment of a somewhat surly and aloof painter. Both young people must confront their deepest secrets: on one hand, the young woman, from a well-to-do family, carries heavy family burdens; on the other, the painter, also haunted by ghosts of the past, is in a possessive relationship with his girlfriend. Art, politics, dreams, sexual identity, crime, and punishment converge in the urban landscape of Taipei. Chen Hung-i's latest work, wrapped in a thriller and with a visceral quality reminiscent of Kim Ki-duk's early films, pays homage in one of its frames to the recently deceased Spanish politician Carme Chacón.
