After quitting her job, Bishnu returns to her village in the Himalayas, a place where time seems to move at the same slow pace as the local customs. There, instead of finding peace, she faces mounting family pressures and suffocating social expectations. The situation grows more complicated with her pregnant sister’s arrival and a budding relationship with a young man deemed “suitable” by the community. In this environment shaped by norms and the constant gaze of others, Bishnu must make a crucial decision: to submit to the weight of tradition or assert her desire for independence, with all of the consequences this may bring. Director Tribeny Rai avoids absolutism and refrains from imposing moral judgments on her characters’ lives. There is no single path forward in a film like this, which stands, precisely, as a testament to the freedom to choose.
