This directory compiles the glossaries from all editions of Cines del Sur: eleven already held and the twelfth currently underway. It serves as a living memory of the festival, its films, guests, sections, and spaces for reflection on the cinemas of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Arab world. Here you can trace the evolution of its programming, rediscover filmmakers, and follow the thematic threads that have defined Cines del Sur's identity as a meeting point for cultures, perspectives, and ways of understanding cinema from the Global South.
Anna, an Israeli soldier, has been ordered to interrogate another Israeli officer who has been accused of abuse of power by an Arab family. Due to her lower rank and her gender, the arrogant officer does not take her seriously and only gives her sarcastic answers. The film portrays the confrontation between the young, self-assured military investigator and this superior officer, thus addressing the complex reality of Israel, where it is not always easy to distinguish between good and bad, who, in fact, coexist there. Room 514, produced with the help of the Israeli Film Fund, becomes an internal interrogation that examines the values of the younger generations of Israelis, with a new and fresh cinematic style.
