This directory compiles the glossaries from all editions of Cines del Sur: eleven already held and the twelfth currently underway. It serves as a living memory of the festival, its films, guests, sections, and spaces for reflection on the cinemas of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Arab world. Here you can trace the evolution of its programming, rediscover filmmakers, and follow the thematic threads that have defined Cines del Sur's identity as a meeting point for cultures, perspectives, and ways of understanding cinema from the Global South.
It all begins on a Thursday when two children go on vacation with their parents to northern Chile. It all ends on a Sunday. Lucía and Manuel travel with their parents, Ana and Fernando, to spend a long weekend together. The couple has decided to separate but had already planned this trip with their children, so they embark on it anyway. Gradually, this time together becomes a final farewell; a long journey where the solitude of the landscape and the confinement in the car reveal the adults' crisis. The children only want to reach a beach: Fernando, a place his father left him, and Ana, a non-existent place where things can be good again. The narrative will be created from Lucía's distant and fragmented perspective on this last family trip.
