Aisha, a 26‑year‑old Sudanese woman, works as a caregiver and lives in a neighborhood in the heart of Cairo; it is a vibrant place but marked by constant tensions. Every day she witnesses friction and conflicts between the African migrant groups and local gangs, a reality that cuts through her own experience and shapes every decision she makes. Her personal life offers little respite. Trapped in an ambiguous relationship with a young Egyptian cook, Aisha is trying to hold on to some degree of emotional stability, all the while facing pressure from a gangster who blackmails her, offering protection and a new place to work, but only if she accepts an ethically questionable arrangement. Caught up in this web of fear, uncertainty and difficult choices, Aisha struggles to stay on her feet, dealing with setbacks that seem to repeat themselves over and over again.
