Luis Miñarro (Barcelona, 1949) is one of the most unique and influential figures in contemporary Spanish cinema. A producer, director, and screenwriter, he has built a career defined by creative independence, the pursuit of new narrative forms, and unwavering support for film projects outside conventional commercial circuits. After starting his career in advertising and audiovisual production, he founded the production company Eddie Saeta in the 1990s, which eventually became a benchmark for European and international auteur cinema. From this platform, he championed films by highly acclaimed directors, backing daring and original proposals that gained recognition at major festivals worldwide. As a producer, he has worked with filmmakers of the caliber of Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lisandro Alonso, Naomi Kawase, and Albert Serra. His name is associated with titles that have won significant international awards, including the Cannes Palme d'Or for the film Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, produced by his company. In parallel, Miñarro has developed a career as a director. His filmography is characterized by a free and provocative gaze, exploring the boundaries between reality, fiction, and philosophical reflection. His most notable works include Familystrip, an intimate portrait of his parents; Stella Cadente, an original recreation of the brief reign of Amadeo of Savoy; and Love Me Not, a contemporary reinterpretation of a biblical episode.
